New business win: Vogel Corporate Solutions is DAB’s new agency

Repositioning the German Architects’ Journal (DAB) as an integrated media brand

Berlin – Following a multi-stage selection process by the German Federal Chamber of Architects, Vogel Corporate Solutions (VCS) is the new agency for the German Architects’ Journal (DAB). DAB is the joint membership magazine of the German Federal Chamber of Architects (BAK) and the 16 state chambers of architects (LAK). With a circulation of 140,000 copies, it has been essential reading for planning professionals across all disciplines and a key source of information on professional policy, architectural culture and practice since the late 1960s.

Since January 1st 2026, VCS has been responsible for the editorial, creative and digital restructuring of the brand, as well as its operational implementation as the leading media brand for architects, interior architects, urban planners and landscape architects in the German-speaking region. VCS won the pitch with a multichannel concept that integrates the print magazine into a digital communications ecosystem.

The new DAB: integrated, digital, relevant

As part of the repositioning, VCS will manage the German Architects’ Journal as an integrated media offering comprising the magazine, website, newsletter and social media, making the brand fit for the future. The DAB is published by the BAK and the state chambers of architects. Eva Maria Herrmann, an experienced journalist and architect, will head the editorial team of the new DAB. Together with an experienced editorial team and in close coordination with the BAK, she will oversee its editorial direction.

Andrea Gebhard, President of the German Federal Chamber of Architects: “We face the exciting challenge of rethinking and repositioning the Deutsche Architektenblatt. The new DAB is a unique platform for fostering a vibrant and committed architecture community, shaped by a strong sense of community within the chamber family and by mutual support.”

Cathrin Urbanek, Head of Public Relations and Media at the German Federal Chamber of Architects: “Our vision is to create a modern media brand. With VCS, we have found a partner that delivers outstanding strategic, conceptual and creative work and is a good fit for us.”

Lutz Thalmann, Managing Director at VCS: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to further develop an established brand with such a wide reach as DAB. This will create a media offering that appeals to and engages both chamber members and other target groups. We will bring the chambers’ extensive specialist and regional expertise to life across both the print magazine and the digital channels.”

Ulrike Schonert, Project Manager for DAB at VCS, adds: “The repositioning of DAB was only possible thanks to close cooperation with the German Federal Chamber of Architects and the state chambers of architects. Our aim is to make their topics and perspectives far more visible and integrate them editorially into a joint, nationwide media offering.”

The transformation opens up new opportunities for marketing partners to effectively reach specialist audiences and decision-makers in architecture, the construction industry and politics. Further information on formats, reach and placement opportunities can be found at https://www.dasneuedab.de/.

The Federal Chamber of German Architects e.V. (BAK) is an association of Germany’s 16 chambers of architects (LAK). At national and international level, BAK represents the interests of around 140,000 members from the fields of architecture, interior architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning to policymakers and the public. As public-law entities, the LAKs are responsible, among other things, for maintaining and promoting high standards of architectural quality and for the continued development of the profession.
