Gunther Schunk joins Vogel Stiftung full-time – Tim Bartl becomes the new CCO of Vogel Communications Group
Vogel Communications Group (VCG) has evolved from a specialist media company into a leading B2B communications partner. Going forward, this transformation will require greater visibility for VCG in the market – with even greater clarity and reach. Communications is the strategic success factor that secures and further accelerates the strong growth of the group’s 15 companies. VCG sees itself as a corporate group operating nationally and internationally to deliver effective B2B communications – an ambition also reflected by its current corporate campaign: “Home Base B2B – Where good communication feels at home”. From July 1st, Tim Bartl (45), previously Director Strategic Projects & Brand Advocate at VCG, will take responsibility for corporate communications as Chief Communications Officer (CCO). “Our strong development into a customer-centric communications partner gains further momentum when we make the benefits for our target groups even more visible. That is why we are increasing the reach of our messages – concise, recognisable and across channels,” says Matthias Bauer, CEO of Vogel Communications Group. Dr. Gunther Schunk (59), previously Director Public Relations at VCG, is handing over responsibility for the group’s communications after around 20 years and will focus entirely on his work on the Executive Board of Vogel Stiftung Dr. Eckernkamp. The Vogel Stiftung has also grown significantly in recent years – in depth, breadth and impact. This greater responsibility requires his full focus. The transition has been planned for some time and will strengthen the foundation strategically. “I would like to thank Gunther sincerely for his many years of exceptional commitment. He has played a major role in shaping the development of our corporate group through his communications work and is handing Tim a strong network,” says Matthias Bauer. “At the same time, I am delighted that Gunther will now be able to apply all his experience to Vogel Stiftung and further enhance its impact.”
Vogel Communications Group is the hub for successful B2B communications. With the brand-awareness campaign “Home Base B2B – Where good communication feels at home”, launched in early 2026, the company positions itself as a leading platform that brings together its diverse offering of media, agency, events and services under one strong umbrella brand. The idea of “Home Base B2B” represents a solid foundation from which many communication channels and innovations set out – much like space ships launching from a space station to reach the seemingly impossible. With 920 employees and annual revenues of around €120 million, Vogel Communications Group (VCG) is a leading provider of B2B communications and specialist information. The international company operates from 11 locations in the German-speaking region and worldwide through licensing partners, with a particular focus on China. VCG offers an in-house network of nine communications agencies and service companies. It is rooted in around 110 specialist media titles across the five business sectors of automotive, industry, information technology, law/economics/tax and B2B communications/marketing. For professional and successful corporate communications, VCG offers 250+ services, 100+ digital platforms and communities, 300+ business events per year and access to target groups in around 25 sectors. The Vogel Stiftung Dr. Eckernkamp was founded in 2000 by Würzburg publisher Dr. Kurt Eckernkamp and his wife Nina Eckernkamp-Vogel. The foundation focuses its support on four fields of activity: education, science, medicine and culture. Particular priorities include dementia research, cancer research, mental health and digitalisation issues. Enabling people of all generations to participate in life is central to the foundation’s work. The company-affiliated foundation holds a 25% stake in VCG and will distribute €1.2 million in donations in the Würzburg region in 2026.
