Augsburg, January 15, 2008
Franz-Reinhard Habbel, spokesman for the German Association of Towns and Municipalities, is launching his "Habbel Blog" on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, on the website of the trade journal "eGovernment Computing": www.egovcom.de. The recognized eGovernment expert, together with the editorial team of the trade journal eGovernment Computing, aims to support Web 2.0 developments in the public sector.
The first municipalities are starting to set up forums, wikis or video podcasts to make an active contribution to more citizen communication. Getting actively involved in the community or in the political process is the motto. "The German Association of Towns and Municipalities is paying close attention to this development. This is reason enough to take to the keyboard myself," explains Franz-Reinhard Habbel: "I would like to use a Habbel blog to make side notes or comments on reform processes, especially in the area of eGovernment and modernization of administration, combined with the desire to enter into a dialogue with readers and stakeholders."
A look at the first entries in the "Habbel blog" shows just how diverse the topics are that Franz-Reinhard Habbel puts up for discussion:
- Premiere in Germany: First German online climate summit on the Internet
- 115 project, service hotline for administrations, meets with great interest abroad
- Rhineland-Palatinate uses IT savings for computers in schools
- First competition for administrative services
Franz-Reinhard Habbel is a proven expert and speaker on new media in the municipal environment and on the topics of the Internet, eGovernment, globalization and administrative reform. Among other things, he co-founded the DStGB's Future Cities network in 2007, is a jury member of the eEnergy competition organized by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and a jury member of the Bearing Point/Cisco competition eGovernment in federal, state and local government.
