Nordkirchen, February 21, 2008
It is expected that 125 investigations will take place this week, with 900 search warrants and more than 1,000 suspects. This means that there is little time left to make a correct and therefore effective voluntary disclosure. The requirements for a voluntary disclosure are high: whether the defaulting taxpayer remains unpunished depends on whether the tax authorities can fully clarify the facts and calculate the tax based on the information provided without lengthy investigations and whether the taxpayer pays the required taxes plus interest - 6% per year - on time.
In light of the current situation, the editorial team of "Praxis Steuerstrafrecht" has therefore provided two free checklists for tax consultants and criminal tax defense attorneys as an advisory aid:
- Checklist for voluntary disclosure advice
- Checklist with 16 important rules of conduct during the search
Both checklists can be downloaded free of charge as PDF files from the homepage of the IWW Institute for Economic Journalism at www.iww.de.
