Vehicle bodies are changing enormously. New materials made from a mix of different steels and plastics are making vehicles lighter and safer, but at the same time the repair work is becoming more complex. New techniques and equipment are needed to ensure cost-effective and safe repairs.
Since yesterday, Tuesday, 120 top experts from the German bodywork and paint industry have been meeting at the Vogel Convention Center. At the invitation of the trade magazine "kfz-betrieb", the experts are discussing topics such as innovative spot welding, fast-drying UV paints and lead-free alluvial tin over two days at the "Expert Meeting Body Repair 2008". A total of 18 exhibitors will be demonstrating new techniques and equipment for sophisticated car body welding.
"We have the crème de la crème of Germany on this topic here," comments Konrad Wenz, Head of Technology, on the list of participants:
- Manufacturers such as Ford, VW, BMW, Daimler, Renault and Audi
- Representatives of the German Motor Trade Association (ZDK)
- Representatives of the Central Association for Bodywork and Vehicle Technology (ZKF)
