A new brand will be entering the German market in November: The Munich-based importer China CAD Automobile Deutschland GmbH is offering its current range of vehicles and three new models under the "Dragon" label, reports the trade journal "Automobil Industrie" on its website www.automobil-industrie.de.
From the end of November, the Dragon City compact car, the Dragon Liner MPV and the Dragon Grand Ufo SUV will be added to the Munich-based company's range. The three-door SUV Ufo and the GX6 will also be offered to dealers and customers under the same brand name in future.
With an entry-level price of 8,999 euros, the 3.70-long Dragon City is a price breaker in its segment. It is powered by a 61 kW/83 hp four-cylinder, four-valve engine. The equipment is unusually comprehensive: in addition to ABS and front airbags, it also includes central locking with remote control, electric windows, power steering, rear parking sensors and air conditioning.
The Dragon Liner, a large saloon with a sporty, flat roofline, is aimed at young families. The seven-seater is equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission as standard; propulsion is provided by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 95 kW/130 hp, which drives the front wheels. The Liner costs 24,900 euros.
For 19,900 euros, the Dragon Grand Ufo is available as a four-door soft-roader, which comes with front-wheel drive in the basic version, but is also available with all-wheel drive as an option. Under its hood is the 95 kW/130 hp 2.4-liter engine from the Liner.
The three new models were developed by one of the leading Chinese manufacturers, but unlike the Ufo and GX6 models that have already been launched, they are built in the Ukraine. The City, Liner and Grand Ufo will be in dealerships in the third week of November.
Dragon boss Karl Schlössl has announced further models for spring 2009: A small car called Dragon XXS, which at 6,500 euros should undercut all other cars on the market, and the large off-road vehicle Dragon Hover, which China Automobile will soon be launching in Austria.
