Liposuction of body fat, for example on the buttocks or hips, is widespread. However, liposuction only helps in the short term, as reported in the current issue of Medizin Report.
The short-term effect of liposuction has been proven in a study of 32 people of normal weight. 14 of them had the fat deposits on their stomach, hips or thighs removed by liposuction. The body fat percentage of these people was reduced by around 2% after the procedure; after six months the difference to the control group was only slight and after one year it had completely disappeared. The surprise: the body fat was not distributed in the same way as before the procedure; the thighs were still relatively slim, but the pads had returned, especially on the abdomen.
