Evolution before revolution. The high technology costs in particular ensure that electromobility will remain a niche market in the coming years. The National Platform for Electromobility (NPE) is therefore pushing for government incentives as an indispensable success factor, especially as Germany is also set to become the lead market for electromobility.
The industry is also aware that the decisive factor for the e-market is how quickly the high costs can be reduced. "Electric driving must not be expensive fun for customers, but must be worthwhile in some way," says Dr. Rudolph Krebs, Group Representative for Electric Traction at Volkswagen AG. From a cost point of view, as Krebs confirmed to the magazine "Automobil Industrie", plug-in hybrids are particularly interesting for customers. Because here they get "the best of both worlds", and with the new "short-distance electromobility" they even get something in addition to what they already know.
So let's get on the road! "Electromobility: The next stage has been ignited" - this is the title of the new, second special issue of "Automobil Industrie" on e-mobility, which provides a comprehensive outlook on the NPE's implementation projects and an update on the OEMs' electromobility strategies.
