The way we get around in society will change drastically in the foreseeable future: Many people, especially in emerging countries, still want to own their own vehicle to meet their transportation needs. However, in developed countries, especially in urban centers, getting around has long been possible without owning a vehicle. Customers are responding to their need for simpler, cheaper and even faster mobility.
Car manufacturers must increasingly offer connected mobility in the context of digitalization. This requires new business models and at the same time brings a large number of competitors from outside the industry onto the scene. How do manufacturers and OEMs need to position themselves for this? This and other questions are addressed in the anniversary edition of "Automobil Industrie". Tina Müller, Head of Marketing at car manufacturer Opel, also advocates "new directions and forces". In an interview, she talks about the necessary transformation of the brand into a mobility service provider, unique selling points and the influence of players from the IT world.
For over 60 years, the trade journal "Automobil Industrie" has been covering the automotive industry, design and supplier development as well as technical advances in powertrains, chassis, interiors, bodywork, electronics, safety, development and production. In the anniversary issue, "Automobil Industrie" also looks ahead and highlights the megatrends in the industry, such as automated driving, electromobility, connectivity, production and Development 4.0. The editorial team also analyses the extent to which digitalization and big data will change the automotive industry.
