It's all (R)over now? There is still life in the British patient, but the air for survival is getting thinner. Now that the fate of the British car manufacturer MG Rover is in the hands of the insolvency administrators, worried customers are running to their dealers: Will I still be able to get spare parts? Will I still be able to find a garage in a few years' time? Who will take over the warranty?
The good news: even after the bankruptcy of the parent company, MG Rover Germany will fulfill all warranty claims one hundred percent. In the event of the German importer's insolvency, work is underway to secure a long-term warranty. This is reported by the trade journal "kfz-betrieb" Wochenjournal & Online at www.kfz-betrieb.de. A detailed report will appear in issue no. 18 on Friday, May 6, 2005.
Rover drivers will not have to do without service in the future either. There are currently 80 dealers and around 100 service partners between Flensburg and Friedrichshafen. They will not disappear from the market overnight. Many will probably remain as service centers or authorized workshops as long as customers continue to come to them. The supply of spare parts is assured. Xpart/Caterpillar has been supplying spare parts for some time now and intends to continue doing so in the future. The approximately 175,000 Rover owners in Germany need not worry in the medium term
New vehicle sales are offering substantial discounts. Around 900 new cars are currently still in stock, with only the MG TF being an exception due to its popularity. "However, we will only be able to sell the remaining models with large discounts," reveals a dealer. Corresponding value adjustments are already being made at the dealerships. Bargain offers can now also be found among the used vehicles. It is expected that these leasing and fleet returns as well as management and press test vehicles will have to be marketed at "special conditions". Customers, go to your MG Rover partner - it's worth it!
