Frankfurt am Main / Essen, June 5, 2013.
The "Karl Theodor Vogel Prize of the German Trade Press - Trade Journalist of the Year" was awarded on June 5 for outstanding trade journalistic work. The prize is awarded by the German Trade Press in cooperation with the Karl Theodor Vogel Foundation (Würzburg) in recognition of trade journalistic articles that present current trade and industry topics in an excellently researched and exemplary linguistic, stylistic and visual manner. The journalism award, which is endowed with a total of 15,000 euros, is presented annually during the Congress of the German Trade Press.
Matthias Schulze Steinmann received the first prize of 7,500 euros for his article "Es herrscht Goldgräberstimmung", published in "top agrar". The second prize (5,000 euros) went to Ernst Hofacker for his article "Tropenholz-Report: der Wurm im edlen Holz" in the magazine "GuitarDreams". Dr. Clemens Doriat was awarded third prize (2,500 euros) for his article "A probing question" in "Kunststoffe".
"The three award-winning articles demonstrate the important function of the specialist media in not only picking up on topics, but also providing background information, classifying them, providing orientation and conveying interesting facts. All of this in a highly readable way," said Stefan Rühling, spokesman for the German trade press, Chairman of the Management Board of Vogel Business Media and Chairman of the Karl Theodor Vogel Foundation, at the announcement of the best writers in the trade media landscape: "I congratulate the three winners and thank them on behalf of the trade press for these exemplary lighthouses!" The three winning articles were selected from around 80 entries by an eleven-member jury chaired by Professor Dr. Lutz Frühbrodt, University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt.
