The specialist medium "elektrotechnik" celebrates its 100th birthday. When the publisher Arthur Gustav Vogel founded "elektrotechnik" in 1918, then still under the name "Elektro-Markt", the first electrical substations were just being built. From the development of microelectronics to the first semiconductors, programmable logic controllers and robots to Industry 4.0, the trade journal has always kept its finger on the pulse of the times. Today, "elektrotechnik Automatisierung" provides information on the entire value chain of automation technology with twelve issues per year in print, digital and at specialist congresses.
To mark its 100th anniversary, "elektrotechnik" is reporting on twelve leading companies in the industry in a major series entitled "Milestones in automation". It also shows how the companies and their technologies have developed over time and what influence they still have on the industry today. For each milestone, "elektrotechnik" has selected a company which, as a pioneer of electrical automation, has shaped this sector in an exemplary manner and will continue to do so in the future with its concepts and technologies.
"The importance of automation for the digital transformation of industry is essential. Because only those who understand automation can master digitalization," says Publisher Bernd Weinig: "The award-winning companies are pioneers of individualized products and flexible value creation networks and represent the automation of tomorrow."
