Würzburg, April 30, 2007
With the introduction of the sporty C-XF planned for May 2008, Jaguar wants to reach the shore of salvation in this country. This is stated by the Managing Director of Jaguar/Land Rover Deutschland GmbH, Jeffrey L. Scott, in an interview in the latest issue no. 18 of the industry magazine "kfz-betrieb". "Until then, we have a difficult year ahead of us in 2007," Scott continued. He expects around 3,300 models to be sold, which would mean a drop of over 920 units compared to the previous year. Scott cites the discontinuation of the successful S-Type model as the reason for this.
The manager takes a more positive view of the situation for the Land Rover brand in Germany. Here, he expects 9,000 units to be sold in the current year. Improved availability of new models, e.g. the Freelander (launched on May 5, 2007) and Defender (May 12, 2007), should contribute to this success. Jaguar/Land Rover also wants to score points with "royal service": "We have introduced our Royal Service program for Range Rover and Range Rover Sport as well as for the new Jaguar XJ," explains Jeffrey L. Scott. This means that the purchase price already includes all inspections and wear parts within the three-year warranty, or up to a mileage of 60,000 kilometers in the case of the Range Rover Sport.
The difficult year 2007 for Jaguar/Land Rover follows a successful 2006 financial year. For Jaguar dealers, the comparative period was even a record with a twelve percent increase in registrations. Land Rover dealers were able to increase their profitability by an average of three percent in 2005 and 2006.
